Sherpani col pass (Alt 6135m.) trek is between Makalu Barun region & Everest region. It’s located in maha langur Himalayan range. Sherpani cal pass is one of the adventure passes in Nepal. From the top of Sherpani cal pass, you will have a great view of Makalu is the fifth highest mountain in the world at 8,485 meters (27,838 ft). Mt. Everest whole range (Alt 8848m),  Kangchungtse (Alt 8580m) range includes many others mountain range as well.

Our journey begins from Makalu, low altitude Arun valley (400m) over the 6000m pass and ends at Everest base camp. This trek so far from reviews of clients is considered as tough and challenging amongst other. The base of Mt. Makalu in the Sankhuwasabha district, Nepal has Makalu-Barun valley. High waterfalls, deep gorges, colorful flower, rare species of animals and plants, diverse climates are the major consideration of this region.

Short Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu & transport to your hotel, Altitude 1350m.

Day 02: Fly to Tumlingtar (Alt 512m) then take a Drive to Numin, Altitude 1600m.

Day 03: Trek to Seduwain via Arun valley, Arun river,’altitude 700m and Seduwain, altitude 1650m.

Day 04: Trek to Tashi gaoun, Alt 2200m.

Day 05: Trek to Kauma Dadain, Altitude 3,500m.

Day 06: Trek over Keke La Pass, ascend to the Tutu La Pass then descend to Dobatoin, Keke La Pass ‘altitude 4,200m, Tutu La Pass ‘altitude 4,500m and Dobatoin ‘altitude 3,610m.

Day 07: Trek to YangreKharkain from Dobatoin, Yangrekharkain, and altitude 3,520m.

Day 08: Trek from March to JarkKharkain, altitude 4,200m.

Day 09: Trek to Makalu Base Camp, Altitude 5,000m.

Day 10: Explore around Makalu base Camp, Barun Lake, Barun glacier.

Day 11: Mount to Sherpanila camp, Altitude 5200m.

Day 12: Acclimatization day, Altitude 5200m.

Day 13: Trek from March to high camp, Altitude 5700m.

Day 14: Sherpanicola pass, then trek to West col and Barunche base camp Sherpanicola pass ‘altitude 6135m, West col ‘altitude 6143m, and Barunche base camp ‘altitude 5720m.

Day 15: Rest day.

Day 16: Trek to High camp Amphulapha, Altitude 5400m.

Day 17: Cross to amphulapha pass, altitude 5800m.

Day 18: Trek from March to Imja Lake camp, Altitude 5100m.

Day 19: Trek to Dingboche village, altitude 4400m.

Day 20: Trek to Namche Bazaar, altitude 2800m.

Day 21: Trek to Lukla, altitude 2800m.

Day 22: Fly back to Kathmandu, Altitude 1300m.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu & transport to your hotel, Altitude 1350m.

When you arrive in Tribhuwan International airport our representative will be there to receive you from the airport and shift to the hotel. If we do have some time then we will visit Gautam Holidays office. In the evening, there will be the welcome dinner organized by the Gautam holidays where you will be served with excellent Nepali cuisine which will introduce you to the countries food culture. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Fly to Tumlingtar (Alt 512m) then take a Drive to Numin, Altitude 1600m.

We will take a flight to Tumlingtar which is an hour. Here we will meet trekking crew and a bit of briefing about the trail.then after trekking up to Khadbari (1,040 m). We will have a lunch break in the shadow of Kabra Trees. We will trek to the north towards Khandbari, then after begin walking on a plateau for around 45 minutes after the trails climbing gradually to Khandbari.

Day 03: Trek to Seduwain via Arun valley, Arun river,’altitude 700m and Seduwain, altitude 1650m.

Today after having a breakfast, we will trek to Seduwain through Arun valley in the banks of Arun river in 700m altitude and Seduwain in 1650m altitude.

Day 04: Trek to Tashi gaoun, Alt 2200m.

The trekking marks areas and many rivers, then hikes up to the Sherpa village of Tashi Gaon, the last permanent clearance in the valley. We will also enjoy the camping in Tashi gaoun.

Day 05: Trek to Kauma Dadain, Altitude 3,500m.

After all, a very hard day of the trek as the trail goes up actual steep. We walk through the sparse forests along the edge over a hillock and fall away a bit to Kauma at 3,500 m. Also, we will enjoy camping in Kauma Dadain.

Day 06: Trek over Keke La Pass, ascend to the Tutu La Pass then descend to Dobatoin, Keke La Pass ‘altitude 4,200m, Tutu La Pass ‘altitude 4,500m and Dobatoin ‘altitude 3,610m.

Our trek start to gain altitude because we are doing pass heading for Dobate(3650m) passing via Tutu-La, Shipton-La(4220m)  which is the 1st pass about 5/6 hours overnight at Lodge.

Day 07: Trek to YangreKharkain from Dobatoin, Yangrekharkain, and altitude 3,520m.

Dobato to yangle kharka(3610m)it takes 5/6 hours where the trial is gradually ascended and where you can feel refreshing where lots of cattle houses where Sheppard come with their cattle is June to August. Overnight Lodge.

Day 08: Trek from March to JarkKharkain, altitude 4,200m.

From here we hike for another kharka called langmale Kharka(4510m) it takes 5 to 6 hours which is also another favorite destination for Sheppard and from where you can see little parts of Makalu but you can feel it’s power. Overnight Lodge.

Day 09: Trek to Makalu Base Camp, Altitude 5,000m.

It takes 5 to 6 hours hiking where you will be covered by mountains the perfect mesmerizing view. Overnight at camp.

Day 10: Explore around Makalu base Camp, Barun Lake, Barun glacier.

We will be exploring the natural beauty of Makalu Base Camp, Barun Lake and Barun glacier which offers with a fascinating beauty of snowcapped mountains, eye-catching mountains and glacier which helps to add an adventurous trip memory. Overnight at camp.

Day 11: Mount to Sherpanila camp, Altitude 5200m.

We leave the camp and climb on the icy snout of the Sherpani Glaciers, three separate Col’s give access to the Cirque, we will choose the most appropriate of these routes, according to the main conditions, our climb shadows on steep snow-covered slopes, with the back-up of the secure ropes which we had set up on the earlier day. Today we hike to our destination to Sherpani col base camp(5688m)It takes about 5 to 6 hours. Overnight camping.

Day 12: Acclimatization day, Altitude 5200m.

Before crossing the challenging passes we must make sure that we must properly acclimatize because altitude sickness can affect a person mentally and physically. Thus we take arrest day for acclimating for maintaining our physical fitness before continuing the higher attitudes the following days.

Day 13: Trek from March to high camp, Altitude 5700m.

Our journey from here heads westwards to camp just below Makalu west pillar, as the altitude gains slowly, we take our time with enough breaks in this high terrain our march shadows a path which hikes an ablation valley on the west sideways of the Barun glacier. Following this valley onto the glacier we make our way over the boulder-strewn caves and snow to a camp known as Puja Camp below the towering Mt. Makalau’s West Pillar.

Day 14: Sherpanicola pass, then trek to West col and Barunche base camp Sherpanicola pass ‘altitude 6135m, West col ‘altitude 6143m, and Barunche base camp ‘altitude 5720m.

Leaving our camp the trail monitors to a sudden climb up the rocky grades of the Barun’s west bank, until a line of landmarks leads us into the valley where two minor glaciers are fed by the grades of the Sherpani Col. We will make our camp beneath the snow cliffs at the border of these two glaciers after 4-5 hours of vigorous climb.

Day 15: Rest day.

A significant rest day for alteration before the hard high climb and steep descent. At this altitude offers superb views of the giant West Face and West Pillar of Makalu. Here our expert guides will check the route and make the pass accessible by fixing ropes en route pass.

Day 16: Trek to High camp Amphulapha, Altitude 5400m.

Today we start our trek after breakfast to the Amphulapha Base Camp. Here our guides will go up to the Amphulapha and will fix ropes on some difficult section for the safe descent towards Imjatse Valley.

Day 17: Cross to Amphulapha pass, altitude 5800m.

Another big day, an early start from the camp for 2-3 hrs. treks lead us to the top of the pass and overlooking stunning views of the impressive south face of Lhotse and Lhotse Shar and the summit of Island or Imajatse Peaks which looks as if it could almost be even lower than our vantage point. As soon the kitchen staffs and porters arrive at the pass, they will be lowered the 150 meters to the relatively less steep ground below the pass. Similarly, loads have to be sensibly depressed, after checking every member in the group we gradually and wisely slope with the help of chains and ice axe if required, then attainment the safe side from the pass by early afternoon everybody should be off the snow. Once in the safe ground away from the snow and ice area, an hour or more walk will take us to the ablation valley by the side of the Imja Glacier, now being within the Imja-tse valley walking will be more or less easier most of the way to the explorers development at Chhukung a temporary settlement with 5-6 teahouse and lodges. Overnight Camp at Chhukung after 8-9 hrs. of a hard adventurous trek.

Day 18: Trek from March to Imja Lake camp, Altitude 5100m.

Another big day, an early start from the camp for 2-3 hrs treks leads us to the top of the pass and overlooking stunning views of the impressive south face of Lhotse and Lhotse Shar and the summit of Island or Imajatse Peaks which looks as if it could almost be even lower than our vantage point. Day 19: Trek to Dingboche village, altitude 4400m.

After the hard couple of days over the two high hidden pass in between the massif peaks, our route from here leads to a pleasant walk on the downhill slope to Dingboche and Pangboche village before Tyangboche. After two hours of easy walk brings us at Dingboche village. Dingboche is a beautiful patchwork of field enclosed by stone walls, protecting the crops of barley, buckwheat, and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals. Dingboche has about more than ten teahouses and it is also the entryway to Chhukung and farther outside for the most interesting negotiates towards Makalu area and Hinko Valley. From Dingboche a gentle walk leads towards the Imjatse River with excellent views of Ama Dablam, Kangtenga and Tawoche peak the trail clues to a small wooden bridge, from the bridge an easy walk to Pangboche village. From here the route distracts into two ways, the upper one going to the upper Pangboche village, where the old Monastery is situated, the steady low route is the straightforward main trail forwards Thyangboche and outside. It will be better to go the upper trail, for more view and to visit the upper Pangboche village 3,900m and its Monastery, which had a Yeti scalp, and a skeleton supposed to be Yeti’s hand, it was stolen in the early ’90’s, and has never recovered back again, like the monastery in Khumjung this Monastery is believed to be older, after the visit to the Monastery a gradual walk downhill brings you back to the main trail, with a short climb after the bridge over the gorge of Imjatse River, the walk follows Mani wall through the beautiful forest of silver fur, birch and rhododendron all the way to Tyangboche Monastery a superb place border by the inspiring view of the snowcapped mountains.

Day 20: Trek to Namche Bazaar, altitude 2800m.

After a visit to the newly built monastery after the old one was burned to the ground in the late 80’s, our trek begins with a descend for an hour to Phungi Tenka, here we cross the long suspension bridge over the Imjatse River by now the trail is busier with trekkers, porters and pack animals than the previous days. On attainment Namche Bazaar it will be more or less back to development with an outstanding restaurant, shops, lodges and even Cybercafe.

Day 21: Trek to Lukla, altitude 2800m.

Being on the main trail to Everest, the walk from Namche onwards will be an easier all the way to Lukla, the path leads downhill all the way to the confluence of Bhotekoshi and Imjatse which makes the Dudh Koshi. From here we cross the long suspension bridge with a short climb into the pine woods, reaching again back to the river bed, the gentle trail follows the river downstream passing through many farm fields and villages then coming at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park in Monjo village. After Monjo another 2 hours of good walk leads to Phakding near the river Dudh Koshi.

Day 22: Fly back to Kathmandu, Altitude 1300m.

After all, we have come to the end of our destination. We will take a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu and your guide will transfer you to the hotel.
