Located 143km north from Kathmandu Helambu Trek is one of the best trekking routes with beautiful Sherpa villages and scenic beauty. Tamang and Sherpa are the habitats of this region in lower and upper respectively. You can feel their gratitude and warm hospitality. They are known for their great interior kitchen design. The culture is still influenced by Tibetan traditions and rituals. The main festivals are Losar (Jan/Feb) and Dumji (June/July) with a colorful environment and family get together.
Starting from Sundarijal to Shivapuri national park and in between many places like Chisopani, Kutumsang, Thadepati and Sermathang to Melamchi Bazar the trek is enriched with the scenic view of landscapes, forests, waterfalls, suspended bridges and High mountains ranges. The altitude ranges maximum to 3700m from where you can view breathtaking view of the mountain ranges.
Short Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu, Altitude 1350m.
Day 02: Drive to Sundarijal then trek to Chisapani, altitude 2300m.
Day 03: Trek to Kutumsang, Altitude 2446m.
Day 04: Trek to Thadepati, Altitude 3650m.
Day 05: Trek to Tarke Ghyang, Altitude 2743m.
Day 06: Trek back to Thimbu and drive to Kathmandu.
Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu, Altitude 1350m.
We will pick you up and take you to the hotel. Along the way, we will give a brief introduction to our plans. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Drive to Sundarijal then trek to Chisapani, altitude 2300m.
After Taking breakfast at 8 am, we will proceed to Sundarijal and then Trek to Chisapani. The trail will pass locating Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife reserve. We will encounter our first inhabitant, Tamang at Mulkharka. Our journey will move over ridge forest with oaks and Rhododendron to Chisapani. Overnight at guest house.
Day 03: Trek to Kutumsang, Altitude 2446m.
After a breakfast, we will begin to the descend Pathi Bhanjyang till Gul Bhanjyang passing through grazing land and fields. Our stop points for the day as mentioned in above indicator will be Kutumsang(2470m). Overnight at guest house.
Day 04: Trek to Tharipati, Altitude 3650m.
On our next target, we will continue up to the north Yurin Dande edge. This ridge is views of the peaks. The trails above vertical Kutumsang are surrounded by rhododendron forests. After a durable hike, we will be at Tharipati. Overnight at guest house.
Day 05: Trek to Tarke Ghyang, Altitude 2743m.
As scheduled we will mount to Tarkeghyang. On this route will come across Sherpa village as well oldest and biggest monasteries. Tarkeghyang other name is Helambu, comes from Helambu caste. Overnight at guest house.
Day 06: Trek back to Thimbu and drive to Kathmandu.
We shall have a short walk in order to catch transportation from Melamchi. Then after a drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.
